M:Excuse me,could you please tell me the way to the city library?
W:I’m sorry.I’m a stranger here myself, but if you cross the road and ask in the police station which is beside the supermarket,I’m sure they’ll help you.
M:Will you go to Peter’s birthday party?
M:I’ll drive my dad to the bus station, and we’ll pass by Peter’s house.Shall I give you a lift?
W:No,thanks,I prefer to walk there.
M:Does your class start at 8:00 every morning?
W:No.On Wednesdays it starts at 9:00 and on Fridays at 10:00.
W:Mary wants to play her piece before we go on the stage.
M:That’s fine with me,but do we have to move her piano after her performance?
W:I hope not.Our drum set is heavy enough.
W:Don’t throw paper on the floor,Mike.
M:Where shall I put it,Miss?
W:Put it in the wastepaper basket, please.
M:But Tom and Bill put all their paper in the basket a few minutes ago.Now it’s full.
W:Then take the basket outside and empty it.
W:Where did you empty the basket,Mike?
M:On the playground,Miss.
W:That’s not right! The dustbin is at the back of the school. Now pick up the paper and put it in the dustbin.
W:Hey,wake up,lazybones. The alarm clock is ringing.Don’t you hear?
M:Five minutes more.Let me know when you’re through with the bathroom.

Christa McAuliffe was born in 1948 and she was an astronaut almost by accident. In 1984,NASA decided to find a teacher who could accompany astronauts into space. They hoped that she would be able to communicate with students from space.Christa was a secondary school teacher in history and social studies and she was selected from over 11,000 applicants to go on flight STS51L.Thousands of students in schools and universities all around the country were looking forward to communicating with Christa in space.Millions of people were watching her flight with great interest.
But Judy was very different. She was born in 1949 and studied engineering at university and went on to obtain a P h.D in 1977.She was a member of the first group of women selected for astronaut training in 1978,and in 1984,she became the second woman into space.During that flight, she helped to launch three new satellites and she carried out a program of research. She was a professional astronaut.
