The regional dialects of birds

Humans have a wide variety of accents.
Birdsong is one of the most instantly recognisable sounds in nature.
The cacophony of sound that we hear at dawn tells us that the birds are awake and ready for the day.
To the untrained ear it can actually just sound like a whole bunch of high-pitched sounds,
but each species has its own unique call,
and if you listen really carefully, within those species you'll start to notice subtle differences.
Evidence actually suggests that birds have regional dialects.
For example, town birds will have a slightly higher pitch than birds from the countryside.
And in the case of the yellowhammer, they actually have a completely different song in New Zealand,
even though genetically they're the same bird as that in the UK.
